Dematha , McNamara Advance To Championship At The Rock

Junior Guard Josh Selby Looks Ahead To A WCAC Championship Game Against McNamara

Video : Dematha vs Georgetown Prep Highlights

The Rock Summer League Championship game tomorrow night at 7pm , features a WCAC rival matchup between the Mustangs of Archbishop McNamara and the Stags of Dematha Catholic.

Dematha Defeats Georgetown Prep In A Nail Biter
Junior Guard Josh Selby scored 19pts and Senior Naji Hibbert added 15pts as the Stags took down Georgetown Prep 73-70 before a semi crowded house at High Point High School last night. Selby who is being recruited by just about every big time school in the nation which includes Texas , Florida , Memphis , Tennessee , GA Tech , VA Tech , Louisville and Xavier said after the game " I feel there is no pressure on me being ranked in the top 5 nationally. " I Just want to win and dominate ".

Although Selby led his team with 19pts it was the play of 6'5" swingman Naji Hibbert in the final minutes which helped Dematha rally back over Georgetown Prep. Hibbert knocked down a big three with just under two minutes remaining and then tipped a missed shot from Senior Marcus Rouse , for what would be the go ahead basket that put Dematha ahead for good.  Naji Nibbert is already committed to play college hoops with Texas A&M following this upcoming season. Phillip Green of Dematha played well hitting four three point shots in the win.

Markel Starks Shows Off
Junior guard Markel Starks of Georgetown Prep was arguably the game's top performer turning in 24pts and dishing out 6assts , doing all he could to help put his team in a position to win the game. The 6'0" Starks , put on a show , scoring most of his points after ankle breaking crossovers which left most of his opponents scrambling to catch up to the lightning quick point guard from the class of 2010. On several occasion Starks pulled up for deep three's in the faces of the Dematha guards defending him. Markel is very quick , has phenomenal ball handling skills and can knock down the long ball. Markel Starks has improved his stock tremendously this summer which should carry on to next season as he hopes to lead his team to an IAC championship.

McNamara Handles KIMA
Talib Zanna brought his "A" game last night as he an the Mustangs defeated KIMA 51-44 to advance to the Rock Championship Game against Dematha tomorrow night. Rising senior big man Talib Zanna was terrific scoring 21pts and grabbing 10rebs in the win.
