Star Power
Capitol Hoops Press
Reebok and Chris Rivers
brought the DMV area just what we needed , and the players brought their games
last night in the Reebok All-American Game hosted by American University. The
all-stars included 40 division I players with schools ranging from Pittsburgh to
UNLV.
Preview Game - Jamal Olasewere was phenomenal tallying a game high 22 points
leading Team Finish to a 102-96 win over Team Create and earning game MVP honors
in the process. Olasewere scored inside and out on dunks and a pair of long
balls , and just seemed to have his way last night. The 6'5" WF/PF has yet to
verbal but according to Mid-Atlantic Select (Jamal's AAU) he will be taking
visits to both George Washington and UNC Greensboro later in the week.
Locals Raphael Putney and Talib Zanna also added 13pts and solid performances in
the first action of the night.
The National Game belonged to an All-American and an All-Met in Dante Taylor
(NCA) and Rodney McGruder (Formerly Carroll). Taylor who notched the highest
point total of the night with 26 and was alter named MVP , showed off his
athleticism and raw skills in the post. While McGruder added 24pts and looked
good in his first hometown performance since transferring out of the city to
Arlington Country Day in Jacksonville , Florida. Locals Terrell Vinson (16pts) ,
Isaiah Armwood (13pts) , Andrew Fitzgerald (13pts) and Thomas Robinson (17pts)
all had huge contributions.
