15&U Recap Coming Soon!
16&U Championship - Team Takeover 69 Long
Island Lightning 48
Team Takeover actually led by 30pts midway
through the game before a Long Island Lightning
player attacked junior guard Khali Thomas.
Referees called the game as tempers flared from both
sides and fights threatened to breakout.
Most Impressive - The entire Nike Team
Takeover Orange squad gets the crown on this one.
Their first two games resulted in thrashing mercy
rules and the championship game ended in similar
fashion. This team reminds us of the DC Assault 16&U
Gold team from last year that went 57-3. The Orange
team also won 1st place at the King James Classic on
Ohio last month.
Most Valuable -
Lamon Church 6'3" PG Deleware Panthers: Church
who is getting looks from St. Joseph's , Delaware
and UMass led his Panthers to a 50-48 grind out win
against Team Takeover Black. The Malvern Prep guard
from Pennsylvania scored 21pts and dished out 5assts
in the silver division championship game.
Most Improved - Brandon Headley
5'10" PG Mid-Atlantic Select: Headley of Blake High
School is a quick guard with an even quicker
release. At 5'10" Headley isn't a high major type
guard , but he sure lit up just about every team
while putting on a scoring clinic throughout the
tourney. Brandon averaged 17.1ppg in 4 games of
action while knocking down 3 long balls per contest.
AJ English 6'3" PG/SG Nike Team Takeover:
Son of NBA legend Alex English , AJ brings a
fundamental style to the prep basketball scene.
Solid all-around game but deadly from beyond the
arc.
Julian Deboze 6'4" SG Nike Team Takeover:
Deboze is an interesting prospect. Julian brings
versatility to the court as a true combo guard and a
scoring addition.
Darrick Wood 6'3" SG Nike Team Takeover -
Wood has worked tremendously on his outside shooting
and athleticism and has made a major improvement in
just a year. Second to Brandon Headley for most
improved.
Ryan Frazier 6'1" SG Mid-Atlantic Select:
Frazier joins Headley in a talented but young Blake
HS backcourt. Ryan has a solid off the dribble jump
shot that creates problems for defenders protecting
the drive.
Devante Grace Long Island Lightning 6'2"
PG: Grace is a big physical point guard with a solid
jump shot. Consistently played well throughout the
weekend.
RJ Williams 5'9" PG Nike Baltimore
Elite - Quick point guard , with a toughness that is
second to none.
Nick Faust 6'4" SG Nike Baltimore
Elite - Clearly the best outside shooter in the
tournament , although ball-handling and strength are
areas for improvement.
Ricky Meelings 6'1" SG Nike
Baltimore Elite - Meelings is physical , a good on the ball defender
and solid jump shooter.
Jerrell Briggs 6'2" SG Team Takeover Black:
Solid guard play , good slasher that led his team
with 15pts in a silver division championship loss to
the Delaware Panthers.
