Since Ed Jenkins arrived as a freshman on T.C
Williams Varsity basketball team , the Titans have won every conference game
that they have played. In fact the Virginia based "Dynasty" team is an
incredible 66-0 in the AAA Patriot division over the last couple of years.
"It is what it is , we are a dynasty" smiled Jenkins now a senior speaking
in regards to being a part of last year's Virginia State Championship team.
TC Williams moved another step closer tonight in front of a 1,000+
spectators who witnessed the Titans edge out a close win against Hayfield
61-55 on "Senior Night".
Jenkins who scored a game high 16pts , watched a fired up Hayfield team jump
up early 14-11 from aggressive inside play of Lolo Newsome who scored 10 of
his 15 points in the first quarter.
In the 2nd quarter however the Titan team that won 65 straight , began to
come to light as Jenkins scored five straight points giving TC Williams the
lead which they would hold onto and the game's final horn. "I had to rally
my troops up" noted Jenkins , soon after TC Williams would get a spark from
junior swingman Ryan Yates (14pts) who got the crowd excited after converting a fast
break slam.
Fellow Class of 2010 teammate Billy Rowland , who made his first bench
appearance of the year due to "senior night" , got hot at the right time.
Hayfield clawed their way back into the game 52-52 with 3:13 remaining but
Rowland grabbed a big time rebound and putback , before knocking down two
clutch free throws to seal the Titan Fate 61-55. With the win TC
Williams improves to 20-2 on the season.
Recruiting Update: Class Of 2010 Ryan Yates 6'6" WF - Will play
summer basketball with Nike Team Takeover and lists his top three schools as
George Washington , George Mason and Delaware though he is still undecided.
