Video : St. Frances vs Good Counsel Highlights

Wayne Sparrow scored 30 points in the loss

Summer League games may not mean much to some , but don't tell that to Good Counsel or St Frances who played their hearts out last night in a game that sketched four overtimes before the final picture was uncovered. These teams played a combined two hours and five minutes , watched three players foul out and had 19 lead changes. If there is an Oscar for summer league games last night's thriller at High Point is a unanimous winner.

Class of 2010 guard Wayne Sparrow was unconscious , scoring 30 points for St Frances on 5-6 from deep. Sparrow knocked down a three at the buzzer as the first half came to an end with St Frances trailing 30-28. As soon as the ball left Wayne Sparrow's hand in the second half you could literally hear the crowd saying "It's Good" , and indeed it was. The most impressive aspect of Sparrow's game last night was that even though he scored a Rock Summer League high 30 points , he only missed two shots. " I am surprised that I was able to perform that way , since I worked out earlier in the day" added Sparrow who is currently being recruited by Richmond , Amerist , JMU and now Clemson the most recently interested. Sparrow maybe the best outside shooter in the class of 2010.

In the end though Sessoms game winning free throw for Good Counsel sealed the victory 72-71 over St Frances. Sessoms was fouled with 2.8 seconds left in the fourth overtime on a very questionable reach in foul 90 feet from the basket while the game was knotted up at 71.

5'10" PG Rodney Glasgow was huge for Good Counsel scoring a team high 19 points for the Falcons. Glasgow was a floor leader connecting from inside and out whilst also getting his teammates involved. When asked how he feels after winning Rodney smiled and said "Tired". Glasgow had every right to be exhausted playing nearly every minute of the two hour fiasco , seeing an expanded role when rising junior point guard Louis Young fouled out in the first OT. "My job is to become a leader and to help my teammates in any way possible" said Glasgow. VA Tech , Navy , NC State , Lafayette and UMD have all expressed interest in Rodney Glasgow as of today.

Ben Hazel a 6'4" high flying guard from Good Counsel added 13 points and a big time slam that provided Good Counsel some much needed energy in the contest. RJ Williams and Jamal Mitchell played very solid as well for St. Frances who drops to 1-3 in league play. With the Win the Good Counsel Falcons increase their record to 4-1 at the Rock Summer League.
