Baltimore Nike Elite Win 16&U Division

The kids from Baltimore Nike Elite formerly Mt. Royal / Team Melo , added to their legacy yesterday by dominating the final two games and taking home the championship in the 16&U division. Sophomore RJ Williams of St. Frances Academy was spectacular in the semifinals against the Basketball Stars Of America scoring 17pts when it mattered most , in the 2nd half. Baltimore Nike Elite held a one point advantage at halftime but went on to win by 27pts. Sophomore's Kevin Smith added 11pts and Damion Lee added 9pts in the win. 

Two local teams me up in the 16&U Championship game between the BRYC Tar Heels and Baltimore Nike Elite. The Tar Heels were without Junior guard Jeff James of Bowie HS and the Elite took advantage of it. The Elite smothered the Tar Heels with a full court press in which the VA based AAU team had no answer. Junior guard Davon Usher of Digital Harbor HS was impressive scoring 10pts and providing some much needed energy for Elite. However the X-factor play came from sophomore Gerrae Williams Aberdeen HS , who's 11pts led all scorer's in Elite's 47-37 win over the Tar Heels. "All I wanted to do was help my team out" replied Williams who did that and then some.

 

Pittsburgh Rules 17&U

In the 17&U Championship game two Pittsburgh PA. teams in the Storm and the Tigers squared off in a lopsided match that yielded the Tigers just 12pts total. The Storm led by Vaughn Morgan of the class of 2009 "Mercy Ruled" with 4 mins remaining in the 4th quarter to win 42-12. Morgan scored 16pts and grabbed 9rebs in the win.

St. John's Prospect Hall's Grandy Glaze turned in the performance of the day scoring 21pts , 10rebs , 4blks against DC Assault 17&U Blue. The super sophomore from Fredrick , MD showed a tremendous amount of determination and looked unstoppable before going down with a knee injury mid way through the 4th quarter. Glaze is 6'6" 220lbs and runs the floor with tenacity. The amount of heart and hustle that Glaze plays with is by far amongst the elite to lace up on the prep scene.

The Class of 2011's Grandy Glaze is a high major prospect of whom surely you will hear a lot more from this upcoming 2008-2009 basketball season. 

 

Princeton Day Starts 2-0

Coach Van Whitfield's Princeton Day Academy opened up the Charlie Weber Fall Tournament undefeated on Saturday defeating DAWGS AAU and the Pennsylvania Blue Devils. Princeton Day got some big time play from 6'9" Senior John Underwood who connected on two big time slams over his defenders. Senior guards Leshon Edwards , Jamaur Jackson , and Jibri Banner also turned in solid performances.

BRYC Tar Heels 16&U

Max Lenox , a 6'1" PG from the Class of 2010 dropped 21pts in a win over Baltimore Select today. Lenox allowed the game to come to him and did not force the issue , yet seemed to score almost at will. Teammate Jeff James , a 6'3" guard from Bowie HS chipped in with 12pts in the victory.
