| DC Assault 17 & U
Champions The DC Assault Gold 17 & under led by Wally Judge and Rodney McGruder defeated the DC Blue Devils 54-44 to win the first annual DC Assault Tournament. The game was called by the referees in the second half when some tempers flared from the players and coaches. Rodney McGruder of Archbishop Carroll HS led the way with 17pts earning MVP honors in the championship game. Wally Judge from Arlington Country Day School in FL. had some of the tournaments most monstrous dunks and really provided the energy that his team needed. Judge scored on the game winning layup in the semifinals to help Assault top Cuttino Mobley AAU. The Blue Devils lost despite a big effort from Mouphtaou Yarou from Massanutten Military School in Va. Yarou had 14 pts all in the first half before the game was called. |

Rodney McGruder commited to Kansas State |
MVP - Rodney McGruder From the moment Rodney McGruder arrived early in the first half against Potomac Pride AAU , all eyes were certainly on the 6'4" SG committed to play his collegiate ball with Kansas State. He would surely not disappoint. Rodney is without a doubt one of the top prospects in the class of 2009 and has made bigger leaps on his game since last year's All-Met run. Rodney is deadly from beyond the arc , gets to the basket and is very athletic. The 6'4" guard can really get up as well as we witnessed him slam dunk through his legs while Assault warmed up. If Rodney is still at Archbishop Carroll next season the WCAC is in for big things from this kid. |

Markel Starks 6'1" PG Georgetown Prep |
Markel
Starks 2010's Elite Guard I was very impressed from the play of Georgetown Prep School Markel Starks. He is truly a floor leader and an ideal point guard. His teammates love playing with him , and it's obvious why. He is quick , scores with ease and most importantly makes the entire team better. I saw him go for 20pts and 12assts against Vinson and Armwood's WPC Elite. He also lead his team to victory 82-72 in the semifinal game against Elite. True point guard's are very rare in today's game but Markel Starks has what it takes. |

Isaiah Armwood 6'9" PF Montrose Christian |
Isaiah Armwood Back In Action After missing months with a severe ankle sprain , it was no wonder why Isaiah Armwood was son anxious to get back on the court. The Class of 2009's most highly recruited prospect from our area was all over the court this weekend. He is very long , athletic and has the ability to knock down an occasional three. Regarded by many as a top 25 national recruit in the class of 2009. Although WPC lost to the DC Blue Devils in the semifinals , Armwood showed flashes of dominance scoring 8 straight in the 2nd half and finishing with a team high 18pts and 9rebs. Isaiah Armwood is definitely ready for the summer circuit as he tries to move up even higher in the national scene. He is undecided on a college as of right now. |

Jamal Olasewere 6'6" WF Springbrook HS |
Rising Star Class of 2009 The 6'6" WF Jamal Olasewere from the Washington Shock AAU 17 & Under raised his stock tremendously this weekend. He clearly is the heart and soul of the Washington Shock averaging 16pts and 8rebs for his team. The 2008 State Champion from Springbrook HS in Silver Spring , MD is very athletic and can score off of the dribble. He is a competitor who wants to win every game. Against DC Assault 16 Gold Jamal had a nasty baseline jam and almost helped the Shock to victory. Jamal is considering reclassifying to his correct grade in the class of 2010 but is unsure at this time. |
