Video Highlights DC Assault 16&U

The Blue Devils of Duke University announced today the commitments of Tyler Thornton and Josh Hairston from the class of 2010. The tandem of Hairston and Thornton travelled the Nation with the highly touted DC Assault 16&U squad that went 50-3 this summer winning several championships along the way.

Josh Hairston a 6'8" PF from Courtland HS in Spotsylvania , VA is currently the #3 rated prospect in the DC metro and Baltimore area , while Tyler Thornton of Gonzaga HS in Washington , DC is #9 , both from the Class of 2010.

Hairston is a finesse forward who runs the floor like a guard. His back to the basket skills are not what sets this kid apart from the pack , but rather his ability to knock down the mid range jumper that was of interest to Kryshewski and the Duke staff. The 2008 second team all-met took an official visit to Durham , NC recently and in doing so chose the University of Duke over Virginia , VA Tech and Georgetown.

Thornton who led his Gonzaga team to a DC City Championship and a record of 34-1 as a sophomore feels "excited" of the opportunity ahead of him in the Atlantic Coast Conference. An old school type point guard , that controls the temp of the game and one whom his teammates love to play with. Thornton is a floor leader who just seems to get it done. Whenever the Eagles needed a play Tyler provided it whether offensively or defensively. The bottom line is that Tyler is a winner , and that goes along way. Thornton turned down offers from Georgetown , Villanova and Stanford in pursuit of the "Camden Crazies" .

All eyes will certainly be on these two as the season approaches in November , however that is something that these youngsters are well accustomed to.
